Paperworks & Paperworks Studio create a place where even the most challenged individual can experience success. Public appreciation of the products and the art of papermaking, allow employees to feel pride in their part of the process. This increased self-esteem translates into confidence, discipline and expectations for the future. All products are hand-made by our students and employees. We pride our programs on uniqueness, quality & consistency, and hope that you will find our products to be something special. Please keep in mind that all papers are unique and one of a kind, so there will be variation in colors and textures of papers - such as florals or marbled papers. Our product is not just beautiful & practical, but people can feel good knowing that their purchase directly impacts the quality of life of the employees who make it. Without jobs at Paperworks & Paperworks Studio , their lives would be much different. ----------------------- Paperworks is a Traverse Bay Area Intermediate School District (TBAISD) program which combines the manufacture of premium art papers and products with a vocational training program for young adults with special needs. If you think of lower Michigan as being shaped like a mitten, we are located in the top part of the pinky area. Located at the TBAISD Adult Work Center, Paperworks is run like a business that not only teaches a skill but develops the work ethic, appropriate work behaviors and attitudes necessary to prepare students for employment. We serve Special Education students, ages 13-26 from a five county area. PaperWorks supports people with disabilities in attaining their personal measure of achievement and self-sufficiency. Paperworks Studio is a stand-alone non-profit business. A volunteer Advisory Board, made up of Community leaders, steers business decisions. Currently there are few programs available that offer sufficient integration and challenges exciting to consumers and their families. Along with product sales, Paperworks Studio relies on philanthropic gifts and grants to meet our annual budget needs. An annual fundraiser, called " Spread Your Wings", is hosted every year in the Fall, with help from many community volunteers and businesses. This event raises necessary funds for operations and increases public awareness of what Paperworks Studio is all about. In the future, with increased Marketing efforts, Paperworks Studio hopes to be able to minimize fundraising needs and stand on product sales alone to meet the operating needs of the business. While this may take a few years, we are confident the product is worthy of this goal. We want our employees to create their own destiny! The potential is there and it is exciting!Return to the Home Page |
